Thun-Panorama

A greeting from afar with a customised view and handwritten message: Despite MMS and SMS the postcard has lost none of its appeal and still delights anyone who receives one. In the extension building, the work Panorama (Mountains) (2016) by Martin Möll is exhibited: a fictitious mountain panorama made from around 600 lined up postcards. The artist (* 1972 in Bern, lives and works in Bern) has been for years collecting and buying postcards in second-hand shops. The artistic work revolves around multiple stages in the history of the postcard with a focus on Thun. Cards from the last 100 years in the collection of Marc Müller at the municipal archives of the city of Thun, are thematically arranged and offers a small tour of the most popular topics of postcards from Thun. The main focus is not only the motifs, but also the written text on the back that seem familiar and even amuse.
