Jörg Köppl’s work specifically created for the Laboratory 4 exhibition revolves around the observation made by Johann Gottfried Herder that vowels were missing in the Hebrew script, because the reader inserts his breath into the written word, and this could be animated again only in this manner. With the actual separation of vowels and consonants in the audio installation, the artist transfers the written record into an audio recording and evokes a shift in the perception of speech. And at the same time Jörg Köppl pursues the issue of content as to how visitors take to sound installations; how they react to them or what they remember about them.
